OUR CATTLE
Bred to handle the high desert regions, our cattle run up to over 8,000 feet. Spending time in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains, the Badlands and the Nowood River bottom at home. They thrive off of these conditions and produce quality calves that can be considered for any program.
WHAT WE STRIVE FOR:
MODERATE RANGE COWS
Developing approx 1200# range cows that are built for our environment. Moderate frame cows that use less natural resources and can thrive. We are looking for cows that require less feed while maintaining good body condition through all seasons, in rough natural terrain.
MATERNAL
We help calve our first calf heifers, and after that they are on their own. They calve out unassisted and are expected to bring home a healthy calf every year.
GOOD TEMPERAMENTS
We focus on developing cows that, while maternal, have good temperaments that can easily be handled through corrals, on horseback or on foot with no major issues.
GROWTH
We are looking for 1200# cows that can wean a calf that's approx 50% of her body weight. We measure these cows' efficiency through the size of the calf they bring home.
HYBRID VIGOR
Calves that can get up and GO with no interference from us, along with healthy immune systems that allow for less doctoring needed.
HIGH ELEVATION
Our summer pasture in the Big Horn Mountains runs up to just over 8,000 feet, so we are careful to breed for High Elevation using only bulls that PAP test well so our cattle can handle these conditions.
